Mission and Vision

Mission

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) provides comprehensive after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life.

Our Vision

Our goal is to identify and fuel our student’s individual passions by tying their interests to tailored academic support, enrichment activities and sports. By creating lasting relationships with our students and incorporating service learning, we equip our All-Stars with the confidence and skills to become productive members of their community. After-School All-Stars gives its students a safe-haven during the “danger zone” hours of 3pm-6pm – the time of day when youth violence, drug use, and other delinquent behaviors are most likely to occur. We provide effective and thoughtful supports to fight against the high school drop-out and obesity crises and to ready our students for fulfilling careers in the modern workforce.

Who We Serve

SFASAS serves over 2,000 low-income at risk youth in 17 middle school sites providing after-school services free of charge in Miami-Dade County.

  • 97% of SFASAS students are underrepresented minorities
  • 85% of SFASAS qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program

SFASAS also provides fee-based after-care services in an additional 19 elementary and middle school locations.

ASAS South Florida

After-School All-Stars South Florida (SFASAS) is the local chapter of the leading national organization that provides year-round, school-based, comprehensive after-school programs. SFASAS was established in 1996 and currently serves more than 6,000 students per year by partnering with public school districts and community organizations. With over 90% of its funds allocated directly to programming, SFASAS continues to strive in improving the quality, sustainability and cultural relevance of its youth-serving programs. Its rich history evolves from the passion of its founder and former Chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
